Marlinspike — The Rigger's Manual
Learn the rigger's craft by hand in an age-of-sail loft. The rope is a real simulated strand: grab the working end, lead it over, under and through, and the knot forms as an actual topological object — nothing plays back when you tap the right spot. Ten manual plates run from an overhand to a bowline, a rolling hitch, a whipping, an eye splice tucked against the lay, and a turk's head. Each is proved on the load bollard, where a knot led the wrong side capsizes and renders in front of you — so you learn WHY the bowline holds. Then four jobs aloft, against the clock and a rising gale.
