Climb down Grate 9 as a city drain worker and descend through flooded storm culverts, a tiled Victorian pump station, pillared brick cisterns and a roaring spillway toward the Sump. Turn rusted valves to raise or drain each basin, wade, swim and dive while rationing air and headlamp battery, and finish every work order before you take the next shaft down. Sodium light, wet concrete and black water hide a lost crew's story, and something vast below hunts anything that moves in the water.
