Muzak for Mannequins
Wander an endless, dusk-lit 1997 shopping mall as the last kid left inside at closing time, hunting cassette tapes through neon concourses, a food court, a department store, a rainy parking garage and the rooftop sign. Every tape is a choice: play it at a kiosk to keep the muzak and the lights alive, or deliver it to the wing's PA console to open the way out. The mannequins of the window displays only move when you look away, so watch them, keep to the light, and save your instant-camera flash for when one gets too close.
